The Cybersecurity Operational Centre (COSSI)

The Cybersecurity Operational Centre (COSSI) discharges ANSSI's assigned role as a cyberdefence authority. It acts primarily for the benefit of government departments and operators of vital importance.

in this regard, it is responsible, in particular, for:

  • threat analysis;
  • identification of vulnerabilities within current systems and tools;
  • seeking out and characterising live attacks;
  • defining response measures for attacks;
  • assisting in the application of emergency corrective measures.

Organisation

COSSI is composed of 3 divisions:

  • the Operational Steering Division (DPO) tasked with:
    • round the clock detection and analysis of the cyber-threat;
    • directing cyberdefence operations;
    • managing COSSI’s operational relations with its key interlocutors.
  • the Operational Techniques Division (DTO) which possesses expertise in the areas of security audits, attack detection, incident response and analysis of vulnerabilities and malware.
  • the Operational Resources Division (DMO) which provides the tools and resources needed to discharge COSSI’s operational roles.
