Cybersecurity Strategy

In February 2011, the National Cybersecurity Agency of France (ANSSI) published France’s Cyberdefence and Cybersecurity Strategy.

To protect and defend against cyber-attacks and safeguard the security of French citizens, businesses and the Nation in cyberspace, France’s strategy sets out four strategic objectives:

  • to be a global cyberdefence power, taking its place in the inner circle of major nations in the field whilst preserving its autonomy;
  • to safeguard France’s freedom of decision-making by protecting sovereign information;
  • to bolster the cybersecurity of national critical infrastructures;
  • and to safeguard security in cyberspace.

The document, which sets out these four strategic objectives and seven areas of endeavour resulting from them will enable all citizens to understand the priorities and the scope of government action.

A new strategy for France, currently under preparation, will be presented in the second half of 2015.

France also has a number of CERT providing risk prevention and incident handling services. These CERT (Computer Emergency Response Teams) are cyber-attack alert and response teams, set up to assist businesses and/or government departments.
